Three years of development and Paul think they nailed it. The Paul Components Post Mount Klamper is 100% designed, tested and manufactured in house. Settling on the tried and true ball bearing in a ramp system, Paul refined some details; using bigger balls for smoothness and increased pad travel and hardened steel for where the balls contact the ramps.
Then instead of a plastic thrust washer, they used a flat needle roller thrust bearing. As for the caliper body - Paul beefed up the body where needed and added “fangs” to the inner backing plate all to increase stiffness.
For easy pad adjustability but staying power, detents were designed into the circumference, located with spring ball plungers. The pads are Kool-Stop sintered metallic. We believe this is the best mechanical caliper ever made for a bicycle.

It spins very smoothly due to specially machined bearing bores and high quality precision sealed cartridge bearings. The axle is turned from high-strength 7075 aluminium, and is available in bolt-on and quick-release versions.

The Paul Components Moon Unit (silver) is a classic crescent straddle cable carrier for cantilever and centre pull brakes.

When Paul Components introduced Moon Unit in the nineties, it was one of the first high quality aftermarket cable carriers.

The Moon Unit has a raised boss for the brake cable clamp that makes setup easy and ensures cable security. Machined channels on the face of the Moon Unit hold the cables in place and an 8mm hex on the back allows you to actually put a wrench on it.

All Moon Units are sold as a pair, with one Unit for each of your brakes, front and rear.

The stainless steel shafts screw into orange 7075 aluminium heads, which are oval putting the material where it’s needed and not where it isn’t. The handles are a stainless steel/aluminium affair for a good balance of ergonomics and weight savings. The nuts have a nice matching o-ring and a thread friction element to keep them in place after the wheels are removed.

The Paul Components Racer Front Brake (polished) is a centerpull caliper brake with long reach arms and plenty of clearance. Based on the classic Mafac centerpull, the Racer brake has been updated with modern materials and manufacturing. The long reaching arms are CNC machined with a T-shaped profile that makes them very stiff. The widely spaced pivots that make room for larger tires and full-coverage fenders. Kool Stop brake pads with spherical washers and sealed pivots with adjustable spring tension round out this fine brake.
The Racer was originally designed to mount directly to the frame via centerpull brake bosses. When a Braze-On Racer is mounted to these specially positioned centerpull brake bosses the brake is especially stiff, weighs less and has a simple integrated appearance.
It is important to note that the Braze-On Racer does not mount to brake bosses in the standard cantilever position, and it will not work with U-brake bosses. Reach is determined by the height of the centerpull brake bosses, which can be positioned by a framebuilder to match up with 700c, 650b, or 26" wheels.
The Center Mount Racer is a long reach brake, and has 57mm to 67mm of reach (when measured diagonally from the centermount to the top of the brake pad). This works great on frames designed for long reach brakes, and can convert frames designed for 27" wheels to 700c, or 700c to 650b.
